Challenge #4--Signs of Summer

Hello to all you creative bugs out there.  Thank you to the five people who took the time to link up to our last challenge.  The winner for that challenge will be announced in a separate post next Wednesday, so if you entered, you'll have to come back then to see if you were our lucky winner.  Unfortunately, as we did not get a minimum of seven participants, there will not be a Top Three for Challenge #3. :(

Right now it is time to announce the details for our new challenge starting today!  Once this challenge ends, the Design Team will be taking a well deserved break so there will not be a new challenge starting in August.  However, don't fret as we'll be back with new challenges starting on September 3rd.

We hope that you will join in this month's fun!

Challenge Details

Once again we will be offering up a new image for free that you can use to enter the challenge.  You don't have to use the designated freebie on your project but you MUST use a Creative Bug Digital SnapShots image.  So, if you have some past freebies that would work for the theme, you can go ahead and use them.  Of course, you can purchase an image from the Creative Bug Digital SnapShots store for your creation as well.  Click HERE to head to the store.  Naomi has also switched the freebies around and so this month you have three different oldie but goodie freebies that you can also use.  You can find those images HERE.

The theme for this month is Signs of Summer.  Summer is in full bloom in many parts of the world. It is definitely here in Canada and the rest of North America. This month we want to see a minimum of THREE signs of summer on your card.  Ideas may include: butterflies or other bugs (cute ones only please); flowers, veggies or fruit; beach scenes; fishing or other summer activities; fireworks; sunshine; etc. These signs can be part of the image; part of your background papers; a charm; in a ribbon, brad or in part of another kind of embellishment. You might even have an embossing folder that will have a sign of summer.  If fact, if you use this month's designated freebie, Mrs. Sunshine, you'll actually have four signs of summer without even trying: flowers, gardening, sun hat and butterflies! What do you love about summer? Show us in your creation. This month there will be an extra prize in addition to the regular one: one prize will be given out to the person who includes the most signs of summer in their project. Just make sure you list the signs of summer that you used, somewhere in your post.

The challenge will run July 2 – Aug 5.

Winners will be announced in a separate post on August 13th

Let me introduce you to this month's designated free image...

Mrs. Sunshine just loves getting her hands dirty playing in her flower beds.  With no more fear of frost upon us, she is doing her best to get her plants in.  Gardening is very therapeutic and Mrs. Sunshine will definitely be reaping all the benefits this summer.

Click HERE to get "Mrs. Sunshine" available until the beginning of August, in the freebie section of the store.

Now before we continue, it is time to see whether anyone guessed the Saturday Sneak Peek.  I guess I stumped you all this week.  While there were some absolutely creative guesses that I just loved, no one was able to figure out the image.  Oh well, there is always next time!

Here is some inspiration from the team to get you motivated. Team Bugalug worked with the freebie for the start of the challenge.

Judith's 'signs of summer' include the sun/sunshine, some flowers, a bird, some bugs, some butterflies, and a sun hat!

Suze's 'signs of summer' include butterflies, flowers, a sun hat (essential!) and of course gardening.

Team Buggaloo are showcasing other CBD images. With Frogalicious, we have...

Monica's 'signs of summer' are the flowers on her washi tape and butterflies.   Additionally, leaping frogs remind her of summer as well from her camping days. You can find Frogalicious in the Fun Critters section of the store.   Clicking on the watermark will take you to that page.  Currently this fun image is at the end of the second row down.
With Beach Bug, we have...

Vicky's 'signs of summer' include a summer drink, the beach, and swim suits.  Beach Bug can be found in the Bugalicious section of the store.   Clicking on the watermark will take you to that page.  Currently she is the second image in the second row.

Hopefully that will help provide you with the inspiration to get your creative juices flowing!  Clicking on the individual bugs will take you to each DT member's blog to check out the details of their projects.  Our team members work very hard to inspire you, so please go and see them if you can.

Challenge Rules

Just like in all challenges, there are a few rules to follow:
  • As stated earlier, you must use a Creative Bug Digital SnapShots (CBD) image to enter the challenge.  Entries that do not have a CBD image anywhere on them, will be removed without notification.
  • You are allowed to also include additional images or sentiments from other artists in your creation.
  • You must follow the theme for the specific challenge.  For this month it is including THREE SIGNS OF SUMMER.  For specific details, please see above.
  • Please be sure to let us know which three signs of summer you used, somewhere in your post.
  • You are allowed to enter a variety of projects as long as they use a CBD image and adhere to the theme, i.e., cards, tags, digital design, artwork, mixed media creations, candles, etc.  The ideas are as boundless as your imagination.
  • You are allowed to link up a total of three projects.  Each one must be unique and part of a different post.
  • New projects only, no backlinking.
  • You are welcome to combine your entry with other challenges.
  • Please link your project post to the challenge blog, not your entire blog link.
  • Please include a link back to this blog in your entry post.  If you don't know how to create a link, make sure that you at least include our blog address in your post so that others can find us.
  • Email entries will be accepted if you don't have a blog.  Please submit them to: CreativeBugDigis {at} outlook {dot} com (just be sure to replace 'at' and 'dot' with the appropriate symbols).
  • The challenge will be open a little over five weeks and will end at 6:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, August 5th.
  • Please, consider turning off word verification. Word verification is time consuming and when you have it on it takes everyone longer to leave a little love and unfortunately our team members do not have the extra time to waste. So please turn off word verification if you want us to leave a comment. We hope that you understand.
  •  We reserve the right to remove any entry that does not meet the concept of the challenge or rules.

Prizes!!!

Along with the brand spanking new freebie Mrs. Sunshine, you will get the opportuntiy to win:
  • Five digital images from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for a person chosen in a random draw based on all eligible entrants.
  • A special prize will be given out to the person who includes the most signs of summer in their project (see theme description for more details).
  • A top three will also be chosen (as long as there are a minimum of seven people entering). Each person in the top three will also get to choose an image from the store.
  • Additional prizes may be added, you just never know!
